The Doge, by an ancient tradition, in December every year used to give to all the nobles of the “Maggior Cinsiglio” 5 wild ducks. In 1521 the council , because of the war which would not allow usual huntings, declared that instead of the usual bird, special Silver Coins would be given. This special coin got named “Osella” (from the venetian word Osel which means in fact, Bird!). The forge ended in 1797, with the Fall of the Venetian.

The one we give to each participant is an accurate reproduction of the real original Osella…but handmade by the Glass Masters of Murano. As a special memory of the Event.
